iDesign System

Next generation iDesign System is now available at Moretsky Cassidy LASIK

The iDesign System is the most current method available of capturing  pre-operative data for your iLASIK procedure. Every person who seeks laser vision correction must undergo a pre-operative diagnostic step in the process, prior to their actual treatment. The iDesign System helps achieve the most exact vision possible after your iLASIK procedure. iDesign acts as the “brain” of iLASIK, generating a high-definition scan that measures and maps irregularities of your eyes that impacts vision. From these measurements the iDesign System creates an accurate and personalized iLASIK treatment plan based on the unIque  features of your eyes.

The iDesign system generates a scan of the eye 25 times more precise than traditional methods used to measure and correct vision. By capturing more than 1200 micro- readings (compared to 250 with the prior generation technology), iDesign identifies the shape of your cornea, it’s curvature, and determines how light passes through your eyes in different lighting conditions. This is all done in one 3 second scan that is used to more precisely correct your vision. The iDesign System allows Dr. Moretsky and Dr. Cassidy to detect details of your eyes never before possible, and treat a wider range of  patients.

The iDesign data is entered into the VisX laser to optimize your Custom Wavefront guided iLASIK result. Clinical studies indicate that this next generation technology improves contrast sensitivity and thus reduces the incidence of night glare and halos.

The development of the sensor technology within the iDesign System was a result of a discovery by Abbott scientists. NASA has used this technology to accurately measure and shape the mirrors in the James Webb Space Telescope. This sensor technology is used to insure transmission of high resolution images of deep space. The James Webb Space Telescope launched in 2018.
